I wouldn't call it "MIDI-oriented" - it just happens to have good MIDI
interfacing, and its way of passing symbolic and numeric messages
between objects lends itself well to MIDI processing.

Opcode are hopeless at supporting MAX. I suggest you go to the site of
the current author/maintainer: http://www.cycling74.com.
