why does it matter how clear it is to the audience? I believe the
relationship between performer(s) and technology would become very clear if
it were NOT there. However, if there is a subtle and interesting
interaction happening, it is in some way communicated to an audience. As
I've said ad nauseam, the technology is not very interesting in its own
right, and therefore we want to avoid putting the audience into a situation
where they are spending all their time wondering about how/whether the
technology is working, rather than looking at the piece itself - at it's
content, shape, feel, sound - all those things you usually look for in a
performance. Hopefully, you will be moved - not just left puzzled about
whether the technology was working.
