NAVIGATING NEW CONSTELLATIONS' SYMPOSIUM
A five day symposium exloring the field of dance and technology looking at
the future of physicality./
Confirmed speakers BLAST THEORY, KURT DAHLKE, DR SOKE DINKLA, MARTIN KUSCH,
WAYNE MCGREGOR, RICHARD POVALL, BILL SEAMAN AND LARS SPUYBROEK with hosts
GHISLAINE BODDINGTON and STEFAN HILTERHAUS and KEYNOTE SPEECH by Prof Dr
DETLEV LINKE on the advances in neurology.

Programme includes presentations, lectures, performances, installations and
demonstrations
plus a day trip to local media organisations in the Ruhr region and a sneak
preview of the renovation work in progress at the Choreographic Centre NRW.

PARTICIPATION FEE: DM 350 (280 concessions) excl accommodation costs.

CLUB RESEARCH - FUTURE PHYSICAL
A special performing arts based club culture event especially designed for
CROSS FAIR
around the theme future physical. CLUB RESEARCH - future physical morphs
BODY into TECHNOLOGY in a six hour event running from 22.00hrs - 04.00hrs
and integrating MUSIC-DANCE-FILM PROJECTION-ANIMATION-PERFORMANCE-LIVE
INSTALLATION AND THE INTERNET.

Featuring CROSS FAIR artists and specialists from the London club and
performance scene, CLUB RESEARCH introduces further dimensions of
interdisciplinary activity to the symposium debate.

Established by shinkansen in London in 1994, CLUB RESEARCH is a performing
arts based club culture event. shinkansen curate and run the night in
collaboration with a local and international crew of DJs, VJ's, MJ's, sound
artists, choreographers, digital rtists and producers.

The Essen line up includes RESIDENT CLUB RESEARCH CREW, HOSPITAL, WAYNE
MCGREGOR
(Random) and JO HYDE from Britain, LOCAL GUESTS, DJ MOUFANG and A CERTAIN
FRANK (AtaTak) plus JULIE ANDREE from Montreal and local MJ, VJ's and DJ'S
in the mix.

This one off night will be followed by a second, larger scale event on June
11th 2000 to celebrate the opening of the new Choreographisches Zentrum NRW
in Essen in links with a European co-production of events running across Yr
2000 in London, Helsinki, Lisbon, Vienna and Essen.

CLUB RESEARCH - PROGRAMME DETAILS

IN THE MAIN DANCEFLOOR ...

HOUSE SOUNDS courtesy of HOSPITAL (Tony Colman & Chris Goss aka Goose)
spinning music that is live, warm, deep, soulful and orginal...'their
adictive style of lounge jungle is in full effect, with some good old acid
tweaking thrown in for good health' (THE FACE, Sept 1997) PLUS Further
musical dimesions from local DJ's including Heidleberg based multi
instrumentalist DAVID MOUFANG (alias MOVE D, DEEP SPACE NETWORK) with his
extra special blend of German techno, electronica and jazz.

A VOYAGE OF DISCOVERY from Dusseldorf sound group A CERTAIN FRANK (AtaTak/
Der Plan/Pyrolator) with a suprise LIVE SET to extend our aural illusions.

PERFORMANCE EXTRACT CRAFTED BY WAYNE MCREGOR with 'the future
in his head'. Founder of London based dance company Random and
choreographer, theatre, film and opera director leading the cyber
generation in shaping the archaeology of digital dancing.

In the CHILL OUT CAFE/BAR WITH A DIFFERENCE....

DEEP LISTENING SONIC DRIFTS - sound set hosted by experimental British
and German sound artists JOSEPH HYDE(London) making sonic and multi media
works,
installations and performances.

PERFORMANCE INTERACTIONS from the KT-BT CREW - a performing/digital arts
network exploring 'theatre of the future'.

THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT AND ALL OVER SITE: local MJ Movement Jockeys directed
by London's supreme club dance choreographer ATHINA VAHLA in collaboration
with London and local VJ Visual Jockeys working with resident visual
director SIMON HYDE showing slide work, animation and transparencies and
WEBNET PROJECTION CREW in an improvised moving collage of body, movement
and image.

PLUS LIVE INSTALLATION IN THE LIFTSHAFT OUTSIDE OF THE MAIN VENUE BY
MONTREAL BASED PERFORMER JULIE ANDREE.
