Re: Digital Dancing 97

I'm jumping here, trying to catch up.

Porous walls...humm I've been dreaming about this. The last project I
worked on (online dance course) definitely required porous walls and, with
that came endless administrataive details and policies to address.

So now I'm trying to arrange TIME, SPACE, TALENT, HARDWARE AND ENTHUSIASM
to continue explorations on videoconferencing - telematic "activities".
Though I feel fortunate that "they" will provide computers,at least through
the summer, this comes from an area outside dance/music. A multipurpose
conference room every once in a while gets turned into a performance space
and technial staff who have never been to a dance concert suddenly become
pivotal points in a performance.

It is very difficult for other faculty in the dance area to support this
kind of work or for curriculum to embrace it in the near future...there is
simply not enough money to go around. I have been doing my explorations
with videoconferencing out of my own pocket, time, and interest....and
most of the time I am forced to go to other places...therefore moving
between the margins.

I would be very interested working on a two-or three week intensive.
Several years ago I taught at The Computed Art Intensive (Simon Fraser
Univeristy) a 3-week summer intensive.

thank you for opening up this topic...
