Dance lighting is (or should be) more than illumination. Among its
functions are revelation of form, reinforcement (of theme and
movement), and mood. Any technology we use should serve the art;
when, in order to make the technology work, we force the audience to
watch blah, uninteresting lighting that doesn't serve the
choreography, then the art is serving the choreography
We need solutions that allow for boht the newer and the older aspects
of the art -- solutions that allow the video interface to work
without forcing us to compromise the visual effect of the dance.
